Physicial/Emotional Wellbeing Resources


Healthy behaviors and positive emotions are attributed to the overall wellbeing of a person, and helps individuals in leading to personal balance and contentment. Below is a list of resources on physical/emotional wellbeing both at Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo and in the community at large.

CAMPUS DINING

Campus Dining provides nutrition information, resources and services to students on campus. The Registered Dietitian is available to provide nutrition education, assist students with dietary restrictions, and participate in campus wellness events. CAMPUS WELLBEING

The Campus Wellbeing program at the Campus Health & Wellbeing is committed to helping students, staff and faculty achieve wellbeing – a balanced life - that will benefit them in their personal and professional endeavors. We currently focus on the four elements of wellbeing and incorporate these elements in our assessment and research, programs and resource development, and policy-related efforts. LEANING PINE ARBORETUM

Learning Pine Arboretum is the Central Coast’s premier horticulture display garden where visitors are welcome. Because plants change with the seasons, individuals are encouraged to visit often to enjoy the many and varied highlights and vistas. The Leaning Pine Arboretum is a living laboratory of plants for all to enjoy. The arboretum is open year 'round except on academic holidays. LIFEMATTERS (EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM)

LifeMatters by Empathia is the Employee Assistant Program at Cal Poly.  Employees and any member of the family, spouse (domestic partner/significant other) or children may request help from the program. In addition to other services and resources, LIfeMatters provides the educational resources: Get Fit (ways to stay active in SLO), Healthy Eating, Monthly Topic on health and wellness, and Wellness Challenge of the Week. POLYFIT

PolyFit is a group of students who are passionate about health care and provide both students and the community with tests to measure personal health and strength. The main purpose at PolyFit is to encourage healthy lifestyles and personal health awareness. As students interested in health care, PolyFit aims to promote healthy lifestyle choices and to increase self-awareness in the risks for cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other detrimental chronic diseases associated with sedentary lifestyles. RELAX CHAIR

PULSE, the Health Education department with Campus Health & Wellbeing, has a wonderful, state-of-the-art massage chair! It is located in the Health Education/ PULSE office and is available for use by students, faculty, and staff.  More information on the Relax Chair is available at

RECREATION CENTER

The Cal Poly recreation center is a one-stop center for exciting opportunities to work out, take a group exercise class, shoot some hoops, swim or soak up some sun. Some of the programs and services provided at the Recreation Center are aquatics, fitness, intramural sports, informal rec, and poly escapes. STRIDE

The goal of STRIDE, the Center for Solutions Through Research in Diet & Exercise, is to translate research and science into actionable programs and policy that will improve communities. STRIDE works to advance knowledge and practice in obesity prevention and treatment by conducting cutting edge, interdisciplinary research, fostering collaborative partnerships among faculty, students and community and providing Learn by Doing experiences to develop the next generation of leaders.
